San Diego Embarcadero Street Art : Along the San Diego Embarcadero amazing "trees" line the walkway. Each year artists create these colorful and creative spectacles to delight and amuse visitors. Children delight in a giant kaleidoscope that really works,a palm tree made out of surfboards, a giant fairy ready to leap, and a blazing fire goddess. Adults discuss the recycled materials so creatively used, like the CD's on the giant marlin. A few months down the line a new group of artists will weave their magic to delight us all once again.

PETCO Park, San Diego : PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres, sits at the bay directly across the street from the Convention Center. It was a first for the architect who designed the stadium. He had a monumental task in that the Western Metal Building, which is on the list of historical landmarks, could not be torn down. He had to incorporate it into the design of the ballpark. It also had to be designed so the setting sun did not hinder the ball players during the games. What a monumental task, but he did it and beautifully. The stadium was the first step in revitalizing delapidated downtown San Diego with its homeless population and abandoned decaying buildings. Now the area has become a hip hang out with many great spots to eat and hang out on the weekends. The skyline is changing as more and more high rise condominiums dot the landscape. With the Trolley just a block from PETCO Park, it is easy to attend games without having to drive down and pay for parking. If you haven't taken a tour of the stadium, it's well worth the ten dollars. The San Diego Digital Photography Club took the tour, which allowed us to see many places behind the scenes that one does not normally get to see.

Gas Lamp District San Diego : This gallery features the architecture and city life of the famous Gas Lamp District in Downtown San Diego. The sixteen square blocks that have been renovated over the last decade are rich with hisory, wonderful restaurants, and shopping. I love the architecture of the old buildings in this area. Little Italy : Little Italy is a section of downtown San Diego. In recent years there has been a revitalization of the area with new condominiums, restoration of old properties, restaurants, and wall murals. It is a fun place to spend an afternoon wandering around after a great Italian lunch.

Veteran's Day Parade 2007 : The Veteran's Day Parade is always a big deal in San Diego, because it is a military town. This year the Marines are celebrating a birthday, so it made the day even more patriotic than usual. What made me the proudest and the saddest was seeing our young veterans who are forever changed because of their war experiences. We cheered and clapped and showed them how much we appreciate what they had sacrificed, and in the end I think we all enjoyed a glorious picture post card San Diego day.

Ghost Towns : The ghost towns shown here were taken on a couple of different trips I took to Colorado. I love wandering through them and wondering what life was like for those that actually lived in them so long ago. There is an effort in some areas to maintain and restore what is left of the ghost towns for future generations to enjoy.

Wings Over Gillespie Air Show 07 : The Wings Over Gillespie Air Show is held every year in El Cajon in the San Diego Area. Vintage aircaft are featured some doing great acrobatic stunts. This year it happened to fall on my birthday in June, so I enjoyed my special day taking photos of these amazing airplanes.

USS Midway : The USS Midway sits proudly in San Diego Harbor telling of the glories of her days at sea. She is now a museum being restored by many volunteers who love her and served faithfully during her commissions. It is overwhelming to feel the size of her as you stand on the flight deck or walk through the massive kitchens that fed thousands over the years. She has a proud legacy and we who live in San Diego are very proud to have her here.

Pow Wow : The San Luis Rey Mission in North County, San Diego holds a Pow Wow each year on the mission grounds. I particularly enjoy the colorful outfits and the rythmic dances.

Del Mar Fair 07 : The Del Mar Fair is held each year at the race track made famous by celebrities like Bing Crosby. The fair is known for its photography competition and exhibit. It is quite an honor for an amateur photographer to have his or her work displayed.

Lighthouses : I am fascinated with lighthouses. Each one is different and has an interesting history. There is a magical quality about them that makes me wish I could travel through time and see what life was like when the lighthouse keepers kept ships from crashing into the rocks. These lighthouses are on the Oregon and California coast.
